Green Cleaners - a sensible solution to a safer planet and a cleaner home

We live in a world where nothing is natural anymore. The food we eat is synthetic and the products we use to clean our homes are damaging our health. What can we do? We pollute the air we breathe through the consumption of strong, chemical cleaning products that we use on a daily basis. The majority of products available on the market contain dangerous substances such as acids, heavy metals, mineral acids and chlorinated solvents that are not biodegradable and most of the times end up in the soil. It would be far much safer if we used biodegradable substances instead. These are not dangerous neither for the environment, not for us and they are just as effective.

Nevertheless, there have been some issues related to this matter. What standards does a product need to reach in order to be considered “green”? Recently, there has been introduced a new term, “green washing” which is related to self-certification and it characterizes most brands existent on the market today. With the constantly growing request for green products, most manufacturers have started to release so-called environmentally friendly lines of products, but they are not always what they claim to be. Also, there is the issue of price and quality. There are many “green” products that have much higher prices than most people can afford.

Moreover, do eco-friendly products really clean just as good as the classical, chemical ones? At the beginning there were many people who complained about their quality, but since this industry has developed so greatly in the past few years, they highlight very good results. Unfortunately, not all of them are good, and not all of them are natural; therefore, if you want to switch to eco-friendly products you should find out more first. You can do this with a simple search online and look for those that are certificated by different environmental programs, such as Green Seal or EcoLogo.

Look for a product that really contains natural ingredients and stay away from acids and chemical substances, because these are surely not good for the health. You have available a large variety of products, so it’s mostly a matter of choosing the right one. If you can’t afford to buy green cleaning products, you can always try making your own cleaning recipes at home. Look up online for the best natural cleaning solutions.
